JORUBEN.

Miss T. Wright.

Theresa Wright began her ownership of ETTs with a dog, Rudiz Stormbringer. He was a very large dog and didn’t acquit himself, with any glories in the show ring.
Having been bitten by the dog showing bug Theresa approached Mrs Petronelle Kitson, who sold her the puppy bitch Quinoa Queen Bee (Ch Quinoa Merryman x Ch Quinoa Queen of Spades).
From the same litter I purchased the dog Quinoa Pinstripe of Reeberrich.

There was one other puppy in the litter, Quinoa top hat, shown only through his puppy classes, after which he had a permanently dropped ear.

Queen Bee, along with Pinstripe, made their show debut at WELKS under George Down. Pinstripe, refusing to calm down, winning only a reserve in his class.
Queen Bee won ALL the bitch classes ( I think it was all of them) !
She won her junior warrant at the next show, where in a reversal of fortunes, Pinstripe picked up his first CC, with BOB going to Ch Quinoa Cold Comfort.
Queen Bee went on to gain her title, although not as fast as one might have anticipated ( Pinstripe was made up quite a while ahead of Queen Bee).

Theresa had meanwhile had from me (Reeberrich) Pinball Wizard at Joruben.
This dog was sold unregistered, not for exhibition, for £30, to a friend of Miss Wright, but papers were also given.
Within a matter of days Pinball Wizard was in Miss Wright’s ownership.
I insisted Pinball Wizard come into joint ownership. He was a very small dog with a poor coat . On occasion I wondered if in fact he was almost a ‘ blue’. He did, however win 3 reserve CCs.
Miss Wright asked to put him over Ch Quinoa Queen Bee. Pinball Wizard was by Ch Pinstripe, so this was a nephew to aunt mating.

I think there was only a singleton puppy, Joruben The Beez Kneez ( photo).
She won her title by 18 months of age.

A repeat mating took place ( unbeknownst to me – not that I would have objected) . This produced Joruben Bee In A Bonnet.
A rather spectacular, handy bitch that could have done alot of winning, but she was hit & killed by a car whilst still a puppy.
The Beez Kneez, was mated to Ch Caesarea Cock Robin ( line breeding back to Ch Quinoa Dolphin on all 4 lines).

From that litter, Mary Wilson had Joruben A Touch of Class at Amalek, which I awarded a 3rd CC at Windsor 1993.
The only other Joruben champion was The Buzz Word (dog), owned and campaigned by Gloria Hoar ( (Caesarea).

Things rather fell apart badly then, when the RSPCA raided Miss Wright’s home and confiscated all her dogs and numerous other pets, on an allegation of serious neglect.
The case went to court and Miss Wright was found guilty. In consequence the judicial courts banned her for 15 years.
It featured for quite a while in both dog papers, bringing an unwelcome spotlight on the breed.
Miss Wright never got any of her ETTs back again.
Undoubtedly, if only things had turned out differently there would have been many more Joruben champions.
